Take yourself for example&#8230; You\u2019re on tech \u2013 probably logged on to check the weather &#8211; then noticed you had some new emails&#8230; Which reminded you of your Facebook friend whose car was stolen\u2026 And now you\u2019re reading GPS trivia about how tech melts your brain. Think you\u2019re multi-tasking? Nope. You\u2019re just doing all 10 activities poorly.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cHas anyone seen my post-its?\u201d<\/strong> Tech butts into what you\u2019re doing, diverting working memory before it is transferred into long-term memory and stored. It also overloads your working memory, causing you to lose some of the \u201cold stuff\u201d as your continued Googling dumps yet more information into your brain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u201cI\u2019m not lazy; I\u2019d just prefer to Google it.\u201d<\/strong> People used to retain vast amounts of knowledge, which they could pull-up and recite on demand.
