Google Wave Is It The Next Big Thing?

You can sign up for early access to Google Wave here.  What is Google Wave? Well to me, it looks like Twitter-Google.com-AOL IM-Flkr-Facebook all rolled into one interface. You can read what Google says about it and see screen shots on the Google website for the application.

To me it looks like the next generation of social networking and team collaboration using many of the same applications that we use separately right now. I am thinking that Google should call it Gitter or maybe GFace, or how about Instant G. But no-o-o-o, they have named it Google Wave.

Well I will be riding the crest of the “Wave” when it is released and will keep you posted about this revolutionary new web application that will be out later this year.

The application is being created in part by the same team that has been responsible for Google Maps. With Google Friend Connect, Google is really looking to break into the social networking phenomena and now with Google Chrome in place Google Wave may just be the application that will be positioned to be the tidal wave that will crash the competition in the social networking field.

Solving the Conversion Problem

Darren at CopyBlogger has it right when it comes to solving the conversion problem look at your own website to make sure that you address each of these issues:

Trustworthiness, transparency, credible authority, lots of high-value content, and just plain old decency are your best weapons.

Everything on your site needs to show that you can be trusted. Real contact information. Showing your photograph. Displaying seals for anti-hacker technology and the Better Business Bureau on your shopping cart. FAQs that actually answer questions. Clear, reassuring calls to action.

My personal combination for success is transparency. On my own business website, we post our pricing, service details and options without fear of competition stealing our thunder. There is no hidden agenda. You will get from us exactly what we spell out on our website and more.

So if you are having trouble with conversions on your own website now’s the time to take a careful look. Have you put a human face on your business? So many people are shy about posting their photograph, but not everyone looks like a movie star! Have you tried to answer questions and objections in a forthright way that you have heard over and over from customers? Do you post your prices?

If you are having moving clients into the final purchase, now’s the time to review and make changes with these specifics in mind.

Blogging SEO Tips from Google

Matt Cutts the engineer from Google who speaks to the webmaster community has posted slides of tips for SEO blogging. When Google talks I listen!

Here’s a link to the blog post. When he posts a video on the topic I’ll embed it in another post so keep an eye out for it.

Matt likes WordPress for his own blogging and so do I. Although in the slides it is hard to understand his input, the video will clearly be more exciting. In the slides and video he will talk about how PageRank is calculated and information on inbound links and their importance for organic placement for blogs. The slides are a teaser, but the real meat will be the video.
