Try It Friday – The Pocket App for Reading on the Go

You’ve got to love Pocket! This is a great app that is a browser utility that allows you to then read things you mark as interesting on any device. Very cool, super easy, I use it all the time. View it at YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQs1-qLAXss&feature=youtu.be

Start first by installing pocket on your desktop or laptop by visiting http://getpocket.com/. You’ll be asked to set up an account and install a small app that will put the +Pocket app in your toolbar.

You’ll also want to download the app at iTunes and Google Play.

When you log in to your Pocket account on your devices, you will then be able to see content you’ve saved to read later across any device. I love this app use it to provide personalized content that I can read anywhere on the go.

What gets the thumbs up for busy professionals? Pocket!
What gets the thumbs up for busy professionals? Pocket!

Looking for a way to be productive and keep on top of your reading? Consider the app called Pocket.

Pocket allows you to save to read later any article or web page. By saving something of interest to your own Pocket account, you can read it on your phone, on your tablet, or on your desktop. You don’t even have to be online to be able to read the content!

To get started visit www.GetPocket.com. Chrome makes it easy to add a GetPocket app that sits in your browser top menu. IE makes it a little more difficult but follow these instructions and add it to your Favorites Bar. In this case you right click the orange button and then save to Favorites and then in the open list Favorites bar.

You can sort your links, delete them, and favorite them. You can add articles, videos, links whatever you want. Visit Google Play or the Apple Store to get the free smartphone app that expands it use tremendously.

For me, this is a fabulous tool as it takes everything that I want to read later and allows me to be more productive on the go. So often I find cool things or articles I want to read later to blog about and I have been saving them in Outlook for Saturday reading. But I have to be sitting at my computer to re-read them. Now, I can sign into GetPocket.com and read my articles sitting at the dentist waiting on kids or when I have a free moment out and about.

Get more productive with your waiting, down-time, or sitting time by using Pocket to keep you in the know on the go!

SpamDrain Killed My Smartphone Spam Problem

Save time with SpamDrain.
Save time with SpamDrain.

I live by my smartphone. If you are like me it is your pipeline to your office; untethering you from your desk so you can work literally anywhere. The issue I had with my phone was a growing email spam issue.

On a small screen, it seemed like my home email account on my smartphone only had spam. My office account is already so cluttered with email I was wasting time wading through tons of bogus message. I knew that there just had to be a spam app for smartphones like there is for desktops!

Actually, there are not many apps like SpamDrain to filter smartphone emails, there are really only a few. But, I have found one called SpamDrain that is really working for me. First, I am not paid by the company for the review, I have bought the product, like it, and wanted to share it with you.

Find SpamDrain at the Google Apps store or visit them online at SpamDrain.net (note the net). I did the 14 day free trial and was amazed at the control and filtering. My phone now had real messages that I could find! This is really a great time saving app. It has some nice features like being able to add multiple emails – watch it though you’ll pay $14.99 for each account they filter for a year if you decide to buy the app after the trial.

You can review, via your phone app or online via your desktop, what has been filtered to help train the application, but really I did not have to do hardly any of that. The filters worked pretty good as they were initially.

If you are getting bogged down with spam emails on your smartphone SpamDrain is the app for you. Check it out!
